Alpha's Claim book review

A book review of the novel: Alpha's Claim: Urban Fantasy Romance Standalone Book 7 of 9 in the Kingdom of Wolves series written by Amelia Hutchins.

Theme: Werewolves, Shifters, Vampires, Demons, Strong Heroine, Alp    es, Pregnancy, Escape, Hiding, 

Rating: 3 stars out of 5. 

If you've read any of the other series of the author such as the The Fae Chronicles then it's pretty much the same except that instead of Fae you have shifters. Also, the author pretty much copied and pasted the bio's of all the characters even intermingled some names, and added a similiar plot line but with a twist: girl doesn't want guy hurt so she lies to save life & rejects his mate claim, years later he returns with full vengeance to make her pay, they of course argue & f*ck, in fact there is lots & lots of sex with the two main characters even though they supposedly can't stand each other. Then something happens and he thinks she's even more awful, convinces her pack too so everyone hates her, she gets really, really hurt, more sex, still hate, more sex, still hate, more sex, she runs away, he hunts her down after finding out she really isn't a bad person, makes her come back, with of course, one more bad thing and then bammmm, they all live happily ever after. No grovelling. No forgiveness need.

...ugh, past me the puke bucket.

Oh, should be we talk about the 'book stuffing' at the start of this book or is everyone else ok with clicking through 21 pages just to get to chapter 1. ????

Fog & Mist book review

A book review of the novel: Fog & Mist written by Kelsie Engen

Theme:

Strong Heroine, Strong Alpha, Fantasy

What the book was about:

Cursed land.
Evil stepmother.
A princess cast into prison then slavery.
A handsome prince searching for his lost sister.

What the book actually contained:

A princess cast into princess for the only crime of 'existing' then sold into slavery. Will she survive the cold? Will she survive her slave master? How far will her evil stepmother go to destroy the princess?  Will the prince find his lost sister and what does this have to do with the slave princess?
Why the heck is it so damn cold, will it end?

Was the book worth buying/reading?

Yes!  Although this book is based on a fairytale (Snow White), it's certainly not for children. The first few chapters are a bit of a drag but the author is laying down the plot & introducing the characters - hang in there!  There is one chapter that is so intense at the beginning, it almost made me put the book down as I couldn't handle the stress the character was going thru!  ..but I stuck in there and glad I did and am looking forward to the next in the series.

The Alpha's Oracle by Merry Ravenell

This is book one in the series IronMoon and it's full of tough fighting Alpha males whom you hate at first read but then slowly begin to like as you understand more about them.

The book is based around the Seer/Oracle, Giana and how she was claimed against her will by the brutal alpha Gabel.

He's rough, tough, mean and brutal.

How will she cope? She's removed from her home, marked against her will, humilated and just wants to go back home.

I loved this book. It's a rough & tumble werewolves series, no lovey dovey stuff here!

Five out of Five stars for me!  I'm clicking straight over to buy the second book in the series.

Sparrowood Academy Book One by Angel Lawson

A book review of the novel: Sparrowood Academy (Book 1)  

written by Angel Lawson.

Theme: Strong Heroine, Alpha Males, Academy, Wealth, Bully 

Yes, another academy bully book full of teenagers, hazing, groupies, head girl/head boy vs the newcomers etc etc  bla bla bla.

Yes, it's pretty much on par with every other bully academy book. This one starts out on the streets with some kids suddenly being pressured to have to go to the academy undercover to find the rotten eggs in there otherwise they'll end up in juvie. Huh? Why? The author forgot to tell us what the street kids had done that was illegal enough to have them send to juvie. 

So yeah, with that non-existent threat over their heads of course they decide to go. Oh wait, I forgot to tell you about the missing sister. Oh wait, so did the author. We're just supposed to be concerned about her after she was mentioned for approx two sentences.

So once again, same plot: new people, threats, bad choices. Yawn. Oh, yeah, perhaps we'll like the new guys perhaps not. Oh wait, is this some drama ...oh, it only lasted a couple of sentences so I guess not.

Oh no, the climax to the book is about to happen after such a weak build up, I'm so not interested but then I blinked and it's over and oh, wait, was that it? Ok. 

Disappointing but wait, the author is trying to tease us into another book in the series but that's a big fat nope from me as I'd rather flush my money down the toilet than to sit thru another yawn inducing storyline.

The whole book, to be truly honest, feels like a first draft.
