No Alpha by G. Bailey

A book review of the novel: No Alpha written by G. Bailey.

Theme:
Werewolves, multiple Alpha's, weak Heroine... or is she?

What the book was about:
This book had potential, a great plot - a weakling female wolf shifter who nobody wanted. Three buff Alpha males to her rescue or well, to actually kind of abduct her. Rape, well it kind of wasn't but hey, it was. What would happen to her? Would she find a happily ever after?

What the book actually contained:
A rushed storyline, especially at the end. It ended on a supposed cliff-hanger but hey, I didn't actually care at that stage as the last chapter was too rushed, too much thrown in and I lost all 'connection' with the female.
A confusing era - when was the story actually supposed to be set in? The females wear corsets and they ride in horse drawn carriages yet their speech was modern and this well, when can you actually squeeze a glass bottle? (see image below).
Was the book worth buying/reading?
Well, no.
If the writer had taken her time to flesh out the characters a bit more and didn't rush the story line then yes. If the writer had shown more maturity within the writing itself and had stuck to a game plan rather than meeting a wordcount and finishing it off as quickly as possible, then yes.
If the writer could choose an 'era' in which the story was set and stick to it, then yes.
The main character was totally naïve and her constant 'talkback' to the scary Alpha's didn't fit with her character.
Yes, there was a twist at the end but not one that engaged the reader because by at this point the author was stuffing as much as she could into the book with minimum, making it rushed & very shallow.
There is a second book in this series but heck, I'm not even going to bother reading it as I'm guessing it'll contain the same rushed plot, thin characters and weird-ass happens that don't really fit in with the actual story.

Rating:
3 stars out of 5.
